Denmark has produced some of the world’s finest athletes who have competed in the World Olympic Games since it started in 1896. It has reaped over 170 medals, with most of them in team sports such as sailing, handball and rowing. This year, Denmark is represented by 113 athletes in 17 disciplines. Women’s National Handball Team. It is the only team that has won in the Olympics Handball event for three consecutive times (1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens).
