Denmark has produced some of the world’s finest athletes who have competed in the World Olympic Games since it started in 1896. Currently the Indoor World Championship record holder for the 1000 and 800 meter distance races, he won a silver medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and a bronze in Athens in 2004. Anders Golding. This 2012 Men’s Shooting silver medalist gave Denmark its first Olympic medal since 1984. This is also his first Olympic medal, having placed 25th in the qualifying rounds in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Eskild Ebbesen. As part of the Men’s Rowing Team of Denmark, Ebbesen has won three gold Olympic medals (1996 Atlanta, 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing) and two bronze medals (2000 Sydney and 2012 London). Jesper Bank. Another bemedalled athlete, Bank is part of the Men’s Sailing team where he won two gold medals (1992 Barcelona, 2000 Sydney) and a bronze in 1988 Seoul.
Camilla Martin. A badminton player who won Danish national championships for 13 consecutive years and giving Denmark a silver medal in Women’s Singles in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Women’s National Handball Team. It is the only team that has won in the Olympics Handball event for three consecutive times (1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens).
