The capital of Denmark is now bracing itself for the coming of Bill Gaither. The legendary gospel group now called the Bill Gaither Vocal Band is set to stop in Copenhagen as part of its world tour on Sunday, October 18.

Music fans who’d love to watch this group perform should book their tickets to ensure a seat. The live concert will take place at The Koncerthuset, Koncertsalen in the capital and will start at 7 p.m.

The Bill Gaither Trio started out in 1956 while Bill was still in college. Bill’s love for gospel quartets is what led him to form the group. He later on pursued a teaching career but continued to be filled with his passion for music. After marrying Gloria Sickal in 1962, he carried on with his two careers until 1967 when music became he and his wife’s top priority.

Thanks to his wife Gloria, Bill was able to produce more than 700 popular gospel songs. Their successful collaboration eventually led to eight Grammy Awards and more than 24 Dove Awards from The Gospel Music Association (GMA). Bill Gaither was awarded the songwriter of the year title by the association eight times. Another remarkable achievement of the couple was their induction to the Christian Booksellers Association’s Hall of Honor in 1996.

Bill Gaither’s “Homecoming”music tour that starts this month until December will also take him to Germany, Norway, Hungary, the United Kingdom, the U.S. specifically in Ohio, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, Los Angeles, Tennessee, Indianapolis and Illinois among others. In January this year, David Phelps joined the band to replace lead singer Guy Penrod and Marshall Hall. From the original trio, the band has expanded and is now composed of five talented men namely Bill, David, Wes Hampton, Michael English and Mark Lowry. Also this year, the group released the The Gaither Vocal Band Reunion album featuring two DVD volumes.
