The location and the help from the staff was great
The City of Smiles, Århus (or Aarhus as it’s now officially known) has been around longer than any other Scandinavian city, so has had plenty of time to accumulate attractions and eateries. Its vibrant music scene and nightlife are popular with Denmark’s largest student population, and the University Park features the excellent Steno Museum and Natural History Museum.
Weird and wonderful artworks adorn the multi-coloured ARoS museum, and artefacts in the Viking Museum are on the site where they were discovered, alongside copies of exhibits from the Moesgård Museum, located in a forest south of the city centre (closed until 2014). At the heart of the neighbouring park is Marselisborg Palace, the Danish monarch’s summer residence.
The botanical gardens are opposite the Old Town, which is not actually the historic centre but rather a colourful collection of half-timbered buildings from all over Denmark, set around a pond.
Shops and pavement cafes line the Aarhus River which enters the sea by the large port which has contributed significantly to the city’s success. Overlooking it are the ultra-modern Isbjerget apartments, resembling peaks of icebergs. Also innovatively designed is the Modernist town hall, and Aarhus Cathedral has the country’s tallest spire and longest nave.
Booking.com’s accommodation options range from beachfront hotels to cheap hostels and apartments near Aarhus Airport.
My first time in Denmark and it was beautiful. A lot of new building projects. A lot of shops and restaurants. A lot of museums. Den Gamble By definitely worth visiting, because there are a lot of museums and you feel like a lot of years ago. Botanical garden is for free, a lot of beautiful plants.

Not as much to do in Aarhus proper, but if you had the means to travel outside there was more to see. Not as visitor friendly as other Danish cities we visited. One full day was enough for the city proper to meander around. Be careful of where you eat, because some of the smorrebord menus were simply fried fish (from their fish and chips menu) on a large piece of bread or soggy chicken salad. Not the Danish versions you might be looking for.

Confusing town plan. Lost my sense of direction frequently.
Confusing town plan. Lost my sense of direction frequently.
Great range reasonable eating places. Friendly service. Flexible menus.
The art gallery was a bit strange. Not much of a B collection for an experienced art lover in other European cities. The shop there was well stocked and presented

Best nature around this city. Very underrated.
Best nature around this city. Very underrated. Totally worth to come check for its city centre, the restaurants, the cafes, the new building with interesting designs, and of course, the forests and the parks
Beds are super clean and comfortable and have curtains !
There’re bathrooms and showers in every dormitory room!
Private lockers that could be opened by the same digital key to the door !
Super kind staffs, it’s a bar so easy to buy refreshments and snakes, while not loud at night, perfect!
The Aarhus art museum is right in front of the hostel.
parking places for bikes in front of the hotel
Wakeup Aarhus was affordable, and right in the middle of the city, which suited our purposes to go see Aros and get a feel for the town. Once we parked the car, we walked everywhere, and saw as much as we could fit in in two days. and good food and drinks. The hotel was a good place to stay, if you are not going to stay there much, but only use it aa a base for striking out for adventure.
- Perfect view over the ocean
- Clean and very comfortable space
- Enjoyable sauna on the ground floor
- Very impressive elevator speed
- A big kitchen and living room, where there is a big dining table, and we felt totally at home 💯 we found all we needed in a kitchen 👍
- Thank you for your great service
- Very beautiful neighborhood in Aarhus
Exceptional hotel. Friendly service, tasty breakfast, and cozy and warm room for an autumn stay in Aarhus. It was quiet and peaceful to spend a night here. The location is close to the main activities and to a restaurant and cafe area. The shopping area is nearby also. I would recommend Hotel Oasia to my friends for sure.
The staff was very friendly … they also seemed to have a few minutes to visit and give suggestions…. The breakfast selections were good. It was always nice to make a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate any time we wanted. The hotel was conveniently located near museums , shopping areas , and the train and bus stations.
The modern style of this hotel is very fun. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Dogs are welcome. Lobby has pool and ping pong tables, a bar and several seating areas. Staff is friendly and the candies on the counter are delicious. Parking is underground. Location is perfect for exploring the city.
Milling Hotel Ritz is just next to the Central Station - Aarhus H - and next to many of the important "sites" in Aarhus. It´s my second visit to the hotel after a lecture in Aarhus - nice place to sleep and enjoy the good breakfast before going back to Copenhagen.
The hotel offers lockers, laundry, as well as great common areas where people can work and/or hangout (mini golf is a brilliant idea). Also, the hotel has perfect location: it's right across from Aarhus Art Museum and walking distance to Den Gamle By.
I really liked the authentic rooms. They were really cozy and we also got a room with a quite nice view on the city. Despite the fact that the location is not in the centre of Aarhus, the transport and accessibility to the hotel were really great.
Location was perfect right in the centre of Aarhus. The hotel was clean and tidy and receptionists went above and beyond to help.
The beds and pillows were so comfy and even had tea making facilities in the room
Great hotel.
The hotel is located right in the center of Aarhus.
Breakfast is exceptional, good quality ingredients, large variety.
Modern look, spacious room.
The view from room 514 is really cool, you can see the rainbow promenade.
The hotel is well situated (12mins to Aarhus H), close to everything. The breakfast itself is a treat. it’s hold on a Michelin plate restaurant so the decoration was really nice with glass ceilings etc.
The hotel is conveniently located in the city centre within walking distance to Aarhus Central Station and the city centre itself. The room was adequately equipped and the staff was friendly.
- nice new hotel in the close suburb of Aarhus
- very comfortable room (actually more a studio, with also a kitchen and dining table), nice design
- great breakfast
- quiet
Everything was perfect: the cleanliness of the place, the hotel and its design, the kindness and courtesy of the staff, the food, their focus on respecting the environment.
My preferred hotel in Aarhus. Stylish and with an excellent location at the heart of Aarhus. Nice beds. Good breakfast. The top floors have excellent views of the city.
