Red Herring Awards Danish IT Firms

Good news are always most welcome to everybody. For Denmark, the good news always keeps coming especially in the world of information technology (IT).

This year, the Red Herring magazine picked several Danish companies as its top awardees in the European Top 100 list. Among them are Napatech, Mazui, SMS Passcode, Zmags and Octoshape.

  • Napatech is a Danish IT firm that engages in developing and selling Ethernet adaptors. It has offices in the United States and Denmark. The firm’s marketing director Daniel Joseph Barry has expressed gratitude to Red Herring magazine for the prestigious award. Napatech also received the Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008 for being the best venture-based firm in Denmark. The award was given by Ernst & Young.
  • SMS Passcode is a leading technology company that specializes in IT security solutions such as the easy to install two-factor authentication solution.
  • Zmags is known for its Interactive Collateral Management (ICM) system that enables customers to digitize and deliver interactive documents online and keep track of their reading behavior. With this solution, documents of any kind from brochures and catalogs to magazines and direct mail can be shared online resulting in lower production costs, wider reach and increased revenue.
  • Octoshape is a small company based in Copenhagen and is known for its live streaming technology via P2P. This peer-to-peer technology enables videos to be shown on websites and allows for the expansion of webcasts.

Red Herring 100 recognizes companies involved in discovering the most promising private ventures. The 2009 awards ceremony took place in Berlin, Germany from March 31 to April 2 and was attended by leading businessmen, financiers and corporate strategists. The magazine has been giving these prestigious awards since 1996.

In 2008, among the top awardees of Red Herring magazine were Skype, Google and eBay.
